iOS version 4.6 and Mac version 4.3

The iOS version is already available for download. The Mac version is submitted to Apple for review, and it should soon become available for download. We added the following features:

Touch ID

If the Touch ID is enabled on your device (iPhone, iPad or Mac), you can use it to unlock the app. Note, that this is needed only if the app is passcode protected.

iPhone / iPad Devices

On the iPhone / iPad device, you tap on the “More” button, then you select the “General” option and then the “Enable Passcode / Touch ID” option. In the dialog, you tap on the button to enable passcode, you enter the passcode (twice), and then you tap on the button to enable Touch ID. Finally, you tap on the Close button to dismiss this dialog and save your settings.

Rainbow: Enable passcode protection
Rainbow: Enable passcode protection

The next time you start the Rainbow app or you resume (the app was in the background, and you start it again), you will be asked to use the Touch ID or enter the passcode.

Mac

At the top bar we find the icon with the padlock. Click on it to bring the dialog up. There you click on the button to enable passcode protection and you then enter the passcode (twice). Finally, click on the Close button to save your changes and dismiss this dialog. In contrast to the iOS version, on the Mac, the Touch ID is enabled when the passcode is enabled.

The next time you start the Rainbow app you will be asked to use the Touch ID or enter the passcode.

Manage Shared Files

We added the option to manage your shared files. Please, note, that this option is available only if you have a Rainbow account (Free or Paid one).

All users who have a Rainbow account can view the files that they are sharing. At that list, swipe your finger (iOS) or right click (Mac) on a row, to bring the menu up. This menu has two options:

  • Extend: Extend expiration date of that Shared file. You can extend it for 1 day, 1 week or 1 month
  • Delete. Delete that Shared file. You will be asked to verify that action

You can extend the expiration date of a file only once. After you make a selection the list is updated to indicate that your selection is in effect.
